Presentation synopsis:
Current understanding of biological age advancement in HIV
The view that people living with HIV (PLWH) have an increased risk of cardiovascular and other ageing-associated co-morbidities is now well accepted and reflected in EACS and other guidelines. In my talk, I will summarise data that supports the notion that the ageing process might be accelerated or at least accentuated in PLWH, including biomarkers of inflammation, genetic background, telomere length, and DNA methylation (epigenetics).
